Cardinals Sign Arlington Renegades DB Delonte Hood

Vince McMahon Reportedly to put the XFL up for sale

One of the most underrated cornerbacks in the UFL this season was Arlington Renegades DB Delonte Hood. He was solid in coverage throughout the year, and after workouts with a few different NFL teams, is signing with the Arizona Cardinals.

Hood was an offseason addition for the Renegades this year, joining the team in Training Camp – and doing enough to make the regular season roster. He ended up playing in eight games this season, starting in four of them.

Delonte made the most of his UFL opportunity. He posted 18 tackles and six PBU’s this year – without committing any penalties on defense.

It’s odd that Hood didn’t get even more playing time than he did in Arlington, given some of the struggles they had defensively. For example, he was inactive during the final game against DC – as a healthy scratch.

Delonte Hood has past NFL experience, with both the Bengals and Broncos. He’s a young corner with a ton of raw potential, running a 4.38 40 yard dash at his pro day. The former Peru State standout still has plenty more to prove on the professional level, and now has an opportunity to do so with the Arizona Cardinals.
