Ryan Switzer named 247sports top 30-under-30 coach

The illustrious 247sports came out on Tuesday with a list of the top college football coaches in the nation under 30 years old and former North Carolina Tar Heel, Ryan Switzer, made the list.

Switzer played four years with the Heels from 2013-2016 where he tallied 243 receptions for 2,903 yards and 19 touchdowns through the air. He also was a prestigious punt return man totaling 99 returns for 1,082 yards and seven touchdowns. His senior season was by far his best as a receiver with 96 receptions for 1,112 yards and six touchdowns, all set or tied collegiate career highs.

Switzer went on to be selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He never really gained traction in the NFL bouncing from the Oakland Raiders to the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Cleveland Browns before finally announcing his retirement in 2022.

In 2023, Switzer was hired as Tulsa’s wide receivers coach where he has been since. Now, the three-time, first-team All-ACC and two-time, first-team All-American is leading the Hurricanes. He has since taken on the responsibility of recruiting coordinator as well last February.

Making the list of top 30 coaches under 30 is just the beginning of this young, former Tar Heel’s coaching career.
