One of the elite wide receivers in the UFL this year was Jontre Kirklin. His XFL campaign with the Houston Roughnecks was cut short in 2023, but he came back with a vengeance in the UFL, dominating with the San Antonio Brahmas. This has led to Kirklin signing with the San Francisco 49ers, bringing some reinforcements to their WR core heading into preseason.
News: The San Francisco 49ers have signed @XFLBrahmas WR Jontre Kirklin.
Kirklin was one of the #UFL‘s most electrifying playmakers in 2024, with 614 receiving yards & 3 TD’s – earning All-UFL honors en route to a Championship berth.

In the XFL’s 2023 season, Kirklin was a weapon for Houston. He racked up 253 receiving yards and four touchdowns, prior to suffering a season ending injury in week five. Despite this, he still got an NFL opportunity, with the New Orleans Saints.
Jontre Kirklin returned to A.J. Smith’s offense for 2024, but this time in San Antonio with the Brahmas. Kirklin was unstoppable from the get go, totaling 614 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He was the most targeted receiver in the UFL, with a whopping 87 targets (56 receptions).

Time and time again, the brass in San Antonio complimented the assets that Jontre brought to the table. A.J. Smith said that Kirklin was the “best wide receiver in the UFL”, and made it clear that he would be heavily involved in every offensive set.
Jontre ended up serving as a key piece to a San Antonio Brahmas team that made a run to the Championship. He wasn’t named to the All-UFL list, but was one of several nominees to be voted on by players, coaches, and media.
