Perhaps the biggest question LSU faces entering 2024, at least on the offensive side of the ball, is its receiving corps.
Brian Kelly and staff are tasked with the tough endeavor of replacing a pair of first-round NFL draft picks at wideout in Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr. While the top end remains talented with players like Kyren Lacy and Chris Hilton Jr. returning in addition to transfer addition CJ Daniels, the depth remains a question.
Kelly is confident in LSU’s second-level receivers, however.
“There’s so many other players that will play roles in some fashion, and I think what we feel like is that if you’ve got three guys that you feel really confident in, let’s get all those guys work with that first group and get some continuity with the quarterbacks,” Kelly said, per On3. “So, you know, if (Garrett Nussmeier) is out there and Aaron (Anderson) is out there, or we have a rotations that has two or three tight ends. He feels comfortable with all those receivers. So, it’s not just the second group that’s getting that work.
“We felt like it was important to get all those guys work with the first group because I want Nuss to see all those guys because he’s probably gonna throw to them at some time.”
Only time will tell how deep LSU truly is at the position, but it doesn’t sound like it’s a major concern for Kelly as he prepares for his third season on the Bayou.
