Rhule confirms injuries to Roger Gradney and Teddy Prochazka

Nebraska’s coaching staff is speaking out following a pair of season-ending knee injuries. Head coach Matt Rhule confirmed that freshman Roger Gradney and offensive lineman Teddy Prochazka will miss the 2024 season after suffering ACL injuries.

“Roger (Gradney) fell the other night, was carted off the field. He tore his ACL and is out for the year. And Teddy Prochazka yesterday, unfortunately tore his ACL as well. Not the same surgical knee, the other knee. Our heart breaks for both of them.”

Prochazka has had multiple season-ending injuries in his career. In 2021, as a freshman, he played in five games before suffering a season-ending injury.

In 2022, he started the first three games of the season at left tackle before an injury against Georgia Southern that kept him out for the remainder of the year. Last season, he played in the final ten games with six starts, including the final five games at left tackle.

“For Teddy, this is going on four surgeries for him. It’s a really difficult time for him. He was right there at the team meeting last night with an unbelievable attitude. He embodies everything we believe in, he embodies what’s next. He’ll be a great mentor for Roger (Gradney).”

The Husker head coach also talked about the competition for left tackle with Prochazka’s injury.

“We have lots of guys we trust, we’ll play with Turner (Corcoran). He started lots of games last year before he got hurt. We have other options, Gunnar Gottula is running with the ones right now. We have guys that we believe in so we’ll play them.”
