While the Houston Roughnecks had a tough time winning football games in 2024, there’s no denying that there was some legitimate talent on this roster. After gutting the team over the past couple of weeks, new GM Will Lewis has started to re-sign players who were on the team this past season.

In their latest batch, the Houston Roughnecks have re-upped contracts with OL Avery Gennesy, C Jack Kramer, and DL Olive Sagapolu.
OL Avery Gennesy
Gennesy has been around the block in the spring football scene. He actually began his spring career in the AAF, with the Atlanta Legends. From there, he moved to the XFL in 2020, playing in five games with the Roughnecks before COVID-19 ended that campaign.
Gennesy made his return to the gridiron in the USFL, with the Houston Gamblers. He spent two seasons as a Gambler, starting in all 20 games with the team under Kevin Sumlin and C.J. Johnson.
Avery made the move to the Roughnecks branding in 2024, and once again played a pivotal role within Johnson’s offense. He started in all ten games once again. Now, Gennesy is back for his fourth straight season with a Houston-branded spring football team.
C Jack Kramer
Jack Kramer is a spring football veteran at this point. He joined the New Orleans Breakers in 2022, seeing action in two games that year. When John DeFilippo took over as Head Coach, Kramer ended up earning a starting role at left guard/center for all 11 games that season. He was quite solid as a pass blocker, with a 71.4 grade via PFF in 2023.
