Look what's new at Camp Randall in 2024

The 2024 Wisconsin Badgers football season is right around the corner! With the Badgers opening the season under the lights on Friday, Aug.30 against Western Michigan, Camp Randall Stadium will boast a handful of new enhancements that amplify the game day experience in Madison.

Wisconsin’s first three games will be played at Camp Randall Stadium, including an early-season marquee matchup against No. 5 Alabama on Saturday, Sept. 14. UW is scheduled to play five teams ranked in the AP’s Preseason Top 25 poll. During Big Ten play, the Badgers will host No. 3 Oregon (Nov. 16) and No. 8 Penn State (Oct. 26).

Here’s what’s new at Camp Randall this fall:

New Videoboard

The in-game experience at Camp Randall will be enhanced by a brand new LED videoboard display in the north end zone. By refreshing the 10+ year old LED display with the latest technology, the videoboard will provide better visuals in all types of lighting conditions. The full videoboard will be utilized for digital ads, stats, scores and video features throughout the game. Additional ribbon board panels were also installed on both the east and west fascia.

Heated Turf

While the appearance of Barry Alvarez Field at Camp Randall Stadium is only slightly altered (the motion W at midfield is larger), the makeup of the turf surface has been improved for the 2024 season. With the possibility of CFP games occurring in December at Camp Randall, the Badgers have installed a heating system under the turf surface. As part of the new installation, the field’s crown has been lowered 10 inches to provide a more level playing surface.

Alcohol Sales

New for the 2024 football season, beer, wine and pre-packaged alcoholic products such as hard seltzers will be available at most concession stands throughout Camp Randall Stadium. Camp Randall will also feature several new grab-n-go markets in addition to added temporary restrooms throughout the stadium.

Fans will be limited to purchasing only two drinks at a time per person, the University of Wisconsin Police Department will provide increased on-site presence, and fans will continue to have access to a text line to report any problems they may encounter. Additionally, ID policy at the stadium will mirror that at the Kohl Center and LaBahn: Anyone who appears under the age of 40 will need to show ID, which will be verified by an electronic scanner.
