Updated Colorado football game-by-game predictions for 2024 season

Entering their first season back in the Big 12 Conference, the Colorado Buffaloes are an unpredictable yet vastly improved football team.

Some national analysts believe the Buffs will remain under the six-win mark while others see head coach Deion Sanders’ beefed-up squad making a run at the Big 12 title. Typically, the answer lies somewhere in the middle.

Colorado, which opens its 2024 schedule on Aug. 29 against the North Dakota State Bison, does own a high ceiling with Heisman Trophy candidates Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter leading the charge. Their supporting cast is much better, though, with defensive lineman BJ Green II, wide receiver Will Sheppard, running back Dallan Hayden and other newcomers primed for big years.

Below are our updated game-by-game predictions for Colorado football’s 2024 season:

Projected winner: Colorado

While the physical Bison will certainly challenge Colorado’s offensive and defensive lines, North Dakota State doesn’t stand much of a chance against Shedeur Sanders’ passing attack.

Nebraska and Colorado have both improved considerably from last year’s showdown at Folsom Field. If the Buffs’ defensive line can rattle freshman Cornhuskers quarterback Dylan Raiola in his second career start, we could see another CU victory at Memorial Stadium.

Talent-wise, the Buffs have more than enough to secure another Rocky Mountain Showdown victory. However, the biggest key for Colorado will be to limit penalties in what should be another chippy game. Keeping star CSU wide receiver Tory Horton quiet will also be critical.
