DURHAM, N.C. – Duke football head coach Manny Diaz announced on Friday evening that Aaron Hall, Jordan Moore, Maalik Murphy, and Justin Pickett will serve as team captains for the upcoming 2024 season.
Hall, a redshirt junior defensive tackle, enters the season having played 26 games so far in his career. Hall has recorded 36 total tackles, including 3.5 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks, two pass breakups, three quarterback pressures, and one forced fumble. Hall played in all 13 of Duke’s games last season, and set his career-high with six tackles against Virginia. He finished with at least two tackles in eight different contests in 2023 and was on the field for 348 snaps.
Moore, a returning starter at wide receiver, has played in 36 games, making 24 starts. A preseason Second Team All-ACC selection by Athlon Sports and Phil Steele, Moore has logged 122 career receptions for 1,491 total yards and 13 touchdowns. On the ground, Moore has added 52 rushes for 256 yards and three touchdowns. He enters the 2024 season holding a 26-game reception streak and is one of just 18 Duke players to record a rushing, receiving, and passing touchdown during their Duke tenure.
Murphy, a redshirt sophomore, was named the Blue Devils’ starting quarterback on Aug. 19 after joining the Blue Devils in January as a transfer from Texas. He played in seven career games, making two starts, for the Longhorns and finished 40-of-71 (.563) passing for 477 yards with three touchdowns against three interceptions.
