Social media reacts to Sooners 51-3 win over Temple

The Oklahoma Sooners opened the 2024 college football season with a 51-3 win over the Temple Owls. It was a strong performance by the defense. They forced six turnovers and held the Owls to under two yards per carry on the ground.

The Sooners also sacked Owls quarterback Forrest Brock six times and recorded nine tackles for loss. Temple will not be the biggest challenge for the OU defense in 2024, but Zac Alley’s unit did what it was supposed to do against an inferior opponent: dominate.

Only once did Temple get within striking distance of the end zone, and the Sooners defense responded with back-to-back sacks to force Temple into a long third down and ultimately a field goal attempt.

The offense didn’t have to do a whole lot in this one and took advantage of the turnovers forced by the defense. It may not have been the most explosive game for the either the passing or rushing attack, but they did enough to make it a decisive win.

There are a number of positives the Sooners can take away from their Week 1 win, but there are also a number of things they need to improve. But as they say, “a win is a win,” so let’s revel in how social media reacted to the Sooners win.
