Boston College closed up Week 1 of college football with a 28-13 victory over No. 10 Florida State, handing the Seminoles their second straight loss of the season.
After an unsuccessful business trip to Dublin, Ireland against Georgia Tech to kick off the college football season, the Seminoles had a chance to reset versus the Eagles at home. Boston College, though, had different plans. The Noles become the fourth preseason AP Top 10 team to start 0-2 in the last 10 years.
A stalemate after the first quarter, the Eagles didn’t wait long to strike in the second. Already in the red zone, quarterback Thomas Castellanos completed the nine-minute drive with a four-yard quarterback sneak. The offense kept the momentum going, scoring on the next drive through a 13-yard receiving touchdown to Treshaun Ward.
Florida State was able to put points on the board before halftime with two field goals but left numerous opportunities on the table. At BC’s six-yard line on second down, quarterback DJ Uiagalelei sailed a pass over wide receiver Darion Williamson, who was wide open in the end zone.

The second half turned the game into a one-sided affair — not in the Seminoles’ favor. Taking a chance on fourth and five early in the third quarter, BC defensive back Max Tucker intercepted Uiagaleli and returned it to FSU’s seven-yard line.
