Yesterday reports started surfacing that the remaining eight AFL teams were ditching the Arena Football League to form a new entity. Today, the news was made official when the official social media accounts for Arena Football One (AF1) put out a release with further information.
Arena Football is back for the 2025 season! Commissioner Jeff Fisher, team owners, and league staff are excited for the 2025 season. ๐
Check out AF1 on all socials and stay tuned for more announcements in the coming days. ๐#ArenaFootball pic.twitter.com/7wjb1SGxCA

As expected, Jeff Fisher will continue his role as commissioner in the new league.
I got both feet in this, and I am 100% ready to go. This league has a great group of people who are going to make amazing things happen on and off the field.โ
Alongside Fisher, Jerry Kurz will serve as the CEO of AF1. Kurz is a founding father of the now-defunct Arena Football League. He was one of the earliest leaders of Arena football, and was part owner of Gridiron Enterprises, original owner of the proprietary, formerly patented, Arena football system.
If youโre a fan of traditional arena football, it looks like AF1 is learning from the mistakes of the AFL and working towards a more sustainable future.
