Right now, Michigan football fans are lamenting a blowout loss to No. 3 Texas and the Wolverines are the butt of many jokes — despite Notre Dame having lost to a MAC team while Penn State and Oregon also struggled mightily with lesser teams in Week 2.

ESPN has yet to release its weekly power rankings, but resident advanced analytics guru Bill Connelly released his updated SP+ ranking after Week 2 (subscription required) and it turns out that the maize and blue may not be quite as bad as everyone is acting.
