The Cincinnati Bengals were on the wrong end of a massive penalty that swung the outcome of Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
On a fourth down with the game on the line and the Chiefs down two points, officials flagged Bengals rookie Daijahn Anthony for making contact with a Patrick Mahomes target down the field.
The flag gave the Chiefs a new set of downs and they won the game on a field goal by a single point a few plays later.
Many, though, took to social media to point out that it wasn’t necessarily as cut and dry as Anthony getting there first. Some wondered if the Chiefs player made contact and others pointed out that both players had the right to make a play on the ball.
Either way, it quickly became one of the hottest topics of the week:
