Simply put, this was not the Georgia offense that fans can expect to see going forward in the season. The Bulldogs’ have had a tendency to struggle in Lexington, including the 2022 team that had a season low 16 points against the Wildcats, but the play calling on Saturday night is highly unlikely to repeat itself for the remainder of the season.

Georgia completed one pass for more than seven yards in the first half, with most of their attempts being behind or just beyond the line of scrimmage. It seemed as if Kirby Smart and offensive coordinator Mike Bobo opted for a more conservative playbook, possibly in hopes of not putting too much on tape for the Alabama game that they didn’t have to against a more inferior opponent like Kentucky, though in doing so they may have underestimated the Wildcats’ defense. The passing game opened up somewhat later in the game and Beck made some nice throws, including the aforementioned long pass completions to Dominic Lovett.

Expect overreaction from fans and media alike, but Georgia still has one of the nation’s top quarterbacks and top play callers. A repeat of Saturday night is not likely, and the Georgia offense could be in for an explosion on Sept. 28 against the Crimson Tide.
