Michigan Panthers Re-Sign DT Walter Palmore

XFL making concerted effort to hire female officials

Another day, another defensive player returns to the Michigan Panthers. DT Walter Palmore has made his way back to the Panthers – after a quick NFL stint with the Carolina Panthers.

Palmore is a spring football veteran, having played with the Panthers for the last three seasons in the USFL and UFL.

In the USFL, Palmore started in 13 of 20 games played across two seasons with Michigan. He totaled 43 tackles across that span, and earned some solid PFF grades as well. In 2022, he posted an 85.5 Defensive Grade via PFF.

Walter Palmore returned to the Panthers in 2024, this time in the UFL. He was once again a key piece on the defensive line, making six starts in 11 games this year. Palmore finished the season with 18 tackles and a sack, alongside a tremendous 90.2 Defensive Grade.

His UFL success led to another NFL opportunity. Walter signed with the Carolina Panthers, and posted eight tackles alongside a PBU this preseason. Despite his solid efforts, Walter was only on the practice squad for two days before being released.

Now, General Manager Steve Kazor makes another important retention, officially bringing Palmore back for the 2025 UFL season.
