Carter’s Corner: Mertz Part of Scholarship Launch

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Gators quarterback Graham Mertz is ready to make a different kind of handoff.

Mertz announced Tuesday morning that he has teamed up with Access Scholarships to launch the Graham Mertz Community Impact Scholarship. The program consists of five $1,000 scholarships to be awarded to “those dedicated to volunteerism and positive change to fund their education.”

Former Gators All-American gymnast Trinity Thomas was part of a similar initiative.

A sixth-year veteran who transferred from Wisconsin after the 2022 season, Mertz has been a team leader and active in the local community since making the move to UF.

“Giving back to others is something I have always been passionate about,” Mertz said in a press release. “Whether your passion is helping children, animals, or any other volunteer work, caring about a cause greater than yourself is important. I’m excited to read these inspiring stories and look forward to supporting the next generation of students making a difference in their communities.”
