For the second week in a row, Auburn will meet up with a top-25 team who is coming off a loss.
Last week, the Tigers met then-No. 18 Oklahoma a week after the Sooners dropped a home game to a top-10-ranked Tennessee squad. This week, Auburn turns its attention to Georgia, who lost a tough game to Alabama on the road last Saturday. The loss in Tuscaloosa has dropped the Bulldogs to No. 5 in the US LBM Coaches Poll ahead of this weekend’s action, down four from last week’s rankings.
Alabama benefits from beating Georgia as they rose to No. 2 after the win. Texas grabs the top spot this week while Ohio State (No. 3) and Tennessee (No. 4) join the Bulldogs in the top five.
Utah takes the biggest hit this week by falling eight spots to No. 18 after losing 23-10 to Arizona. Ole Miss also suffered a significant drop after losing its home game to Kentucky, dropping six spots to No. 11.
Auburn’s last opponent, Oklahoma, jumped one spot in this week’s ranking to No. 17 after pulling off a late win at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
