The 2024 NFL season continued on Thursday night, as Week 4 kicked off with the New York Giants hosting the Dallas Cowboys. Desperate for a victory after two consecutive home losses, Cowboys starting quarterback Dak Prescott knew that history played in his favor, as the veteran signal-caller has owned the Giants during his playing career.
While the Giants upgraded the roster during the offseason, several holes on offense remained, while quarterback Daniel Jones’ sporadic play remained an issue on the night. However, Dallas’ depleted secondary was lucky that Jones’ downfield inaccuracy didn’t result in touchdowns instead of five field goals on the night.
Prescott’s accuracy and the improved defensive line play, especially defensive tackle Mazi Smith’s best performance in his young career helped the the Cowboys escape East Rutherford with a 20-15 win, and a 2-2 finish in September.
