DURHAM, N.C. – Duke graduate running back Star Thomas was named the ACC Running Back of the Week following Duke’s 21-20 comeback victory over North Carolina on Saturday night.
 
Thomas, a Homer, La., native finished with 166 rushing yards on 30 carries and a touchdown. He added two receptions for 45 yards and a score. Thomas gained 122 of his 166 ground yards after intermission against the Tar Heels, including 78 in the fourth quarter, as Duke erased deficits of 17-0 at halftime and 20-0 in the third quarter.
 
On Saturday, Thomas caught a 29-yard pass for a touchdown in the third quarter and scooted two yards on the ground for another score in the fourth quarter to become the first Blue Devil with a rushing and receiving score in the same game since Mataeo Durant against Northwestern on September 18, 2021.
 
In the last three games, Thomas has gained 399 ground yards, rushed for three touchdowns and added one receiving score. He has eclipsed the 100-yard rushing mark in all three tilts and is the first Blue Devil with three consecutive 100-yard rushing performances since Durant on September 25 (vs. Kansas/124), October 2 (vs. North Carolina/114) and October 9 (vs. Georgia Tech/152), 2021. Thomas is just the sixth Duke running back to have three or more consecutive 100-yard ground games.
