Grand Canyon, Pac-12 reportedly are interested in negotiations

If Gonzaga is in the Pac-12, and if Grand Canyon — another growing basketball brand — wants to be part of the new Pac-12, that means Saint Mary’s has a lot to think about. The Gaels could choose to stay in the WCC, but they now lack their elite rival, Gonzaga. Do they want to be the king of a hollowed-out conference, or do they want to come to a Pac-12 which would gain even more basketball stature if they join the conference? A Pac-12 with Gonzaga, Grand Canyon, and Saint Mary’s — in addition to San Diego State, Colorado State, Utah State, and Boise State — would have a lot of NCAA Tournament-caliber teams and would become a very strong basketball conference.
