Big Ten Power Rankings: Oregon and Ohio State dealocked before their Week 7 matchup

Week 6 of college football is in the books, and we’re close to the halfway point in the 2024 college football regular season. The Oregon Ducks are 5-0, their second 5-0 start in two seasons, and their second 5-0 start in 10 years.

There was a lot of great football across the country and plenty of upsets. In the Big Ten, the Minnesota Golden Gophers took down the No. 11 USC Trojans, and nationally, The No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide fell to the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Ahead of the Ducks is their biggest game in recent memory. Next week, Oregon will host the Ohio State Buckeyes in Autzen Stadium for a game that has been billed as the game of the year. ESPN’s College Gameday is coming to town, and the Ducks have a chance to grab one of the most important wins in their program history.

Below are the updated Big Ten Power Rankings, after Week 6 of college football action.

Purdue Boilermakers (1-4)

Alex Martin/Journal and Courier / USA TODAY NETWORK

Game Result: L 6-52 against Wisconsin

Previous Ranking: 18th

AP Poll: Not ranked

What’s Next?: at Illinois

Analysis: Purdue had yet another abysmal performance this week against the Wisconsin Badgers. They might get another win this season, but I don’t see them moving from the bottom spot in these rankings.

UCLA Bruins (1-4)

Marco Garcia-USA TODAY Sports

Game Result: L 11-27 against Penn State

Previous Ranking: 17th

AP Poll: Not Ranked

What’s Next?: Minnesota

Analysis: As expected, UCLA lost by multiple scores on the road against Penn State this week, but they kept the game far closer than I expected. The Bruins still have a lot of issues, but they did some good things this weekend.
