While the Houston Roughnecks have completely rebranded this roster under the new leadership of Will Lewis, there are some pieces who find their way back. The latest of those is WR Cyril Grayson Jr., who has officially re-signed with the Roughnecks for the 2025 UFL season.

Cyril made his spring football debut last year, with the Philadelphia Stars. He was a late season addition, so he didn’t see much playing time outside of a few kickoff returns. Grayson also recorded one catch for six yards.
Cyril Grayson ended up finding his way to the Houston Roughnecks through the USFL-XFL merger process. With Houston in the UFL this year, he was productive, with 18 catches for 192 yards. Cyril wasn’t utilized as often as he should’ve been as a receiver, but showed up when his name was called upon.

In addition, Cyril was finally given the keys to kickoff returns in week nine, and across the next two games he had seven returns for 169 yards.
What makes Grayson such an intriguing prospect is his background. He didn’t play football in college, as he was a track star at LSU. His speed earned him a couple of NFL opportunities – and he was actually a valuable piece for the Buccaneers in 2021, totaling 212 receiving yards and two touchdowns from Tom Brady.
