It was a slow start to the Red River Rivalry for the Texas Longhorns. Maybe it was the heat. Maybe it was the wind. But the Horns were held scoreless after the first quarter. Oklahoma actually led 3-0.
But the No. 1 team in the nation found their footing in the second quarter, rolling off 21 points en route to a 34-3 rout.
Ewers definitely looked off throughout the game. Returning to the starting lineup after an oblique injury kept him out two and a half games, the junior went 20 of 29 for 199 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT.
Fans of both teams enjoyed a very warm State Fair before the game, one of the real special features about this unique rivalry game. Thousands gathered to welcome the buses of both teams before cramming into the historic Cotton Bowl for the game.
By the final whistle, only the Texas half was still packed.
