Stock Up, Stock Down: USFL In NFL Preseason Week One

General Manager Steve Kazor has struck again. The Michigan Panthers have signed Akeem Dent, another one of their UFL College Draft picks from 2024.

Akeem Dent is an intriguing prospect out of Florida State. He played in all 13 games on defense as a freshman in 2019, making five starts that season. Dent had 35 tackles, 1.5 TFL’s, and an impressive seven PBU’s.

While 2020 was a shortened campaign due to COVID-19, 2021 saw more action for Akeem. He recorded 44 tackles, an interception, and four PBU’s in eight starts (10 games played). 2022 was another step in the right direction for Akeem, as he compiled 53 tackles and four PBU’s, making 12 starts in 13 games played.

In his senior season in 2023, Akeem Dent started in 10 of 11 matchups. He posted 44 tackles, 2.5 TFL’s, and a PBU. Dent is the all time leader at Florida State in PBU’s, with 15 to his name.

This led to an NFL opportunity for Akeem, signing with the Los Angeles Chargers as an UDFA. He had seven tackles this past preseason, but was let go during roster cuts to 53. Dent saw a couple of workouts with other teams, but remained…
