No, Cade McNamara wasn’t a gunslinger in this one, but he also didn’t need to be. Iowa could run the ball at will and all he had to do was manage the game with smart decisions and complete the occasional downfield through, both of which he did going 8-14 for 108 yards and two touchdowns.
What was nice to see was younger receivers getting in on the action. Dayton Howard had a 33-yard touchdown reception and Seth Anderson made his presence felt with a 27-yard reception. If Iowa can continue to get increased production outside, it is only going to help Kaleb Johnson in the run game.
