New Orleans Saints vs Denver Broncos on October 17

In their second home game in five days, the New Orleans Saints (2-4) will host the Denver Broncos (3-3) on Thursday Night Football. It is the first time the Saints have hosted Denver since November 13, 2016. The Saints lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a 51-27 contest on Sunday at the Caesars Superdome. In that contest, quarterback Spencer Rattler made his first career NFL start in place of an injured Derek Carr (oblique).

The Broncos lead the series, 9-3, with New Orleans breaking a five-game losing streak in the series with a 31-3 victory at Empower Field at Mile High on November 29, 2020. Only five of the 12 games in the series have been decided by a touchdown or less, three by two points and a 1985 loss by one.

The two clubs share familiarity, as Saints Head Coach Dennis Allen, served as defensive coordinator in Denver in 2011. Meanwhile Denver’s Head Coach Sean Payton served as head coach of the Saints from 2006-21, leading the club to a regular season record of 152-89 and playoff mark of 9-8, including capturing the Super Bowl XLIV championship.
