The Oklahoma Sooners are a defensive team. Not simply because the offense has been bad but because the defense has been really good. That was reasserted on Saturday in the Sooners 35-9 loss to the South Carolina Gamecocks.
The offense gave the game away in the first five minutes, and the defense played tough, inspiring football for 60 minutes despite the game getting out of hand early. So it should come as no surprise that nine of the Sooners 10 highest-graded players via Pro Football Focus come from the defensive side of the ball.
Here are Pro Football Focus’ 10 highest-graded Sooners (including two true freshmen) through Week 8 with a minimum of 98 snaps or 20% of the snap count this season.
