CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – The Atlantic Coast Conference had a pair of football players in Justin Barron of Syracuse and Kaimon Rucker of North Carolina named semifinalists for the 2024 Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year award, it was announced on Tuesday.
 
Barron has been stellar this season for the Orange. Tabbed the ACC Linebacker of the Week and Senior Bowl Defensive Player of the Week on October 14, Barron switched positions from a defensive back to linebacker early this year after injuries to the position group. He is second on the team with 41 total tackles, including 18 solo stops, and has added 3.5 tackles-for-loss, one sack, one interception, one pass breakup, one fumble recovery and a team-high four quarterback hurries.

A team captain in 2023, Barron worked with numerous organizations this past year. He has volunteered with Syracuse City Schools meeting with and reading to local children, participated in Syracuse football’s neighborhood cleanup program where they clean trash off sidewalks and roadways on city streets, volunteered at the Salvation Army by preparing clothing, as well as both the Rescue Mission and Samaritan Center preparing and serving food. He has met with veterans and their families at Clear Path for Veterans, worked at the CNY Diaper Bank, participated in the CNY Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Walk, worked on charity events with the Syracuse Mets, prepared boxes of food at the Syracuse Food Bank, completed community service initiatives at the Walter…
