It appears that Bo Nix is keeping it all business.Β
The Denver Broncos will face the Baltimore Ravens in a titanic matchup this weekend, and naturally, there will be comparisons between Nix and reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson.
Nix is not anywhere close to Jacksonβs level yet, but heβs been playing well in recent weeks and was just named the Offensive Rookie of the Month for October.Β
Nix has also been making plays with his legs this season, but the quarterback brushed off a comparison to Ravens star Lamar Jackson this week.Β
βIf I try to do what Lamar would do, I wouldnβt be here,β Nix said after Wednesdayβs practice. βHeβs special when it comes to not only running the ball β heβs well known for his explosive runs β but heβs a full qualified quarterback in the pocket. He does some really good things with his arm. I think heβs underrated when it comes to throwing the ball. Itβs going to be fun to see him. Iβve never met him. Itβs going to be fun being around him and watching him in person for I guess the second time.
βI watched him play Clemson. When I was in high school, I went and watched the Clemson game and he was electric in that one too. Iβm excited to play against him on the same level. Itβs still crazy I get to play against these guys. Growing up watching [him], heβs a two-time MVP, and heβs been doing it for a few years now at a high level. I definitely donβt want to be compared to him running the ball because Iβm not quite there.β
Itβs excellent that Nix is distancing himself from the comparison talk. Itβs easy to get wrapped up in those conversations, allowing someone to get wrapped up in the media frenzy. However, it appears Nix is staying cool, calm, and collected, making sure heβs ready to lead Denver to potential victory in Week 9.
After the game, heβll get an opportunity to meet the quarterback he watched while in high school and college. Jackson is only three years older than Nix, but this is his seventh year in the NFL. Heβs a proven vet; Nix is a rookie. Theyβll face off for the first time on Sunday.
