Memphis Showboats Sign IFL DPOY Ravarius Rivers

Why We're Thankful for Spring Football (USFL, XFL & more)

The Memphis Showboats haven’t made too many moves under new management, but are slowly building out this roster for the 2025 UFL season. Most recently, they added DB Ravarius Rivers, who’s fresh off of a DPOY stint in the IFL.

Ravarius has had a unique journey to pro football. He started his college career at Miles State, but transferred to Valdosta State in 2017. Rivers played for two years there, totaling 77 tackles, three TFL’s, two interceptions, and nine PBU’s across that span.

Then, Ravarius dropped off the football scene for a few years, returning to Valdosta in 2022 for a senior campaign. That season, he had 39 tackles, two TFL’s, two interceptions, and five PBU’s.

After declaring for the NFL draft and not getting any looks, Rivers looked to the indoor scene to get back to playing football.

This past season in the IFL, Rivers dominated with the Green Bay Blizzard. He earned DPOY honors, and was nominated to the All-IFL First Team Defense:

“Tied for the league lead in interceptions, Rivers hauled in eight interceptions through 15 games, returning them for the third-most yards (49) in the IFL. Rivers ranked fourth in the league in tackles (91.5), adding three tackles for loss to this stat line. As a member of one of the league’s top defenses, Rivers was responsible for 10 pass breakups and two blocked kicks this season, making him a defensive force all year long.”
