Latest news on Vikings RB

It’s starting to sound like a broken record, but not much has gone right for the Minnesota Vikings once again. They’ve controlled the ball, and marched into the Jacksonville Jaguars red zone several times, yet they’re only ahead by less than a touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

To make matters even worse for the Vikings, they appear to have lost their starting running back, Aaron Jones. Jones was hurt initially in the third quarter when he took a big hit from Jaguars linebacker Foyesade Oluokun. Oluokun appeared to hit Jones in the arm on a seemingly innocent tackle, but it looks to be anything but.

Aaron Jones injury update

Jones tried to leave the field under his own power after the hit but quickly crumpled and had to have the Vikings’ training staff come out and help him to the sidelines. Jones was taken to the sidelines and evaluated for a rib injury. After a few minutes, the Fox broadcast gave an update, stating that Jones had been given the thumbs up to return to the game.

Shortly after that report, Jones was seen on the medical cart returning to the Vikings’ locker room. We got a further update saying Jones was being re-evaluated for a chest injury. It seems unlikely at this point that Jones will return to the game, but we’ll keep you updated on any further news that comes in.

How long with Aaron Jones be out?

Jones was able to return to the game for the Vikings indicating he shouldn’t miss any extra time. Rather, Jones will likely be on the injury report this week but should be expected to play in Week 11.

Vikings running back depth chart

With Jones in the locker room, the running back duties will primarily fall to the recently re-acquired Cam Akers. While Akers will likely see the majority of the action while Jones is out, reserve running back Ty Chandler will also see some action in Jones’ absence.
