The Carolina Panthers career of running back Miles Sanders may have just taken another unfortunate turn.
Sanders, in the second quarter of Sunday morning’s Week 10 matchup against the New York Giants, sustained a foot/ankle injury during his second rushing attempt of the game. The sixth-year veteran would be carted off from the field at Allianz Arena and later ruled as doubtful to return to the contest.
2024 marks Sanders’ second campaign with the Panthers—who signed him to a four-year, $25.4 million deal last offseason. 2023 saw the former Philadelphia Eagle rush for only 432 yards and one touchdown on 129 carries.
Fellow running back Chuba Hubbard has taken over Carolina’s backfield despite the organization’s investment in Sanders. Hubbard entered today’s outing fresh off signing a four-year, $33.2 million extension with the team.
The Panthers, in addition, are likely to have rookie running back Jonathon Brooks available for their next game in Week 12. Brooks, a second-round pick from the 2024 NFL draft, was officially activated to the 53-man roster this past Wednesday.
