Michigan State football returns from the bye as a slight underdog in Saturday’s road matchup at Illinois.
Michigan State will look to snap a two-game losing skid and get one win away from bowl eligibility in a tough road game at Illinois this week. The Spartans enter this matchup with a 4-5 overall record and 2-4 mark in Big Ten play.
Illinois is also riding a two-game losing streak and looking to get back on the winning side this week. The Fighting Illini are 6-3 overall and 3-3 in Big Ten play on the year.

Michigan State at Illinois prediction, pick
This feels like the definition of a toss-up game, and thus, I don’t have a strong feeling toward either side when it comes to making a pick. I wouldn’t put any money down on either side until we get further in the week and get some key injury updates on the Spartans’ end, including quarterback Aidan Chiles. For now, I give a slight edge to the Spartans, assuming Chiles plays and Michigan State is at relatively full strength.
Prediction: Michigan State 23, Illinois 20
