The DC Defenders made a major splash in UFL free agency on Wednesday, adding QB Emory Jones to the roster. This comes just days after the team traded away Jalan McClendon – one of two QB’s they had signed to the team for 2025.

The DC Defenders are in serious need of acquiring some new talent – especially at quarterback – and they do exactly that with the addition of Emory Jones.
Jones had a lengthy college career, playing for six years. He began his days at Florida, where he worked his way into a starting role during his fourth season. That year, Jones threw for 2,733 yards and 19 touchdowns, to 13 interceptions.

From there, Jones made a move to Arizona State. He played there for a season, starting in seven games as he racked up 1,533 passing yards and seven touchdowns.

In 2023, Emory transferred to Cincinnati for his final year of eligibility. As a Bearcat, Jones totaled 2,219 passing yards and 18 touchdowns. As a dual threat quarterback, Jones did attract some NFL attention. Across his collegiate career, Emory rushed for 1,863 yards and 18 scores on the ground.
