DURHAM, N.C. – Duke football and the non-profit organization Morgan’s Message will team up during Saturday’s home game against Virginia Tech to bring awareness to behavioral health within the student-athlete community.
The Blue Devils will don stickers on their helmets with the Morgan’s Message logo in addition to wearing bracelets with the organization’s mantra – “taking a shot at mental health.”
Morgan’s Message amplifies stories, resources, and expertise to confront student-athlete mental health, build a community by and for athletes and provide a platform for advocacy. The organization aims to expand the dialogue on mental health by normalizing conversations, empowering those who suffer in silence, and supporting those who feel alone.
The organization honors the life of Morgan Rodgers, a former Duke women’s lacrosse player.
In addition to offering resources online, Morgan’s Message has a podcast available titled The Mental Matchup. The podcast shares stories about mental health journeys of fellow student-athletes and hops to provide a safe space for processing difficult topics and emotions.
