The Houston Texans need to return to their winning ways this Sunday heading into the bye week.
Why? An AFC South title could be within reach before fans have to start Christmas shopping.
Houston hits the road to take on a broken Jacksonville Jagaurs roster in a battle for bragging rights in the AFC South. The Texans are missing a key element in defensive back Jalen Pitre, but the Jaguars could be without quarterback Trevor Lawrence for a third consecutive game.
Jacksonville, the favorite to land the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, has lost four straight games since its Week 5 win over the Indianapolis Colts. A loss would seal a 10-plus loss season out in Duval County.
With a victory, the Texans would improve to 4-1 in the AFC South for 2024. Since the Indianapolis Colts can still win the AFC South, Houston can’t clinch the division before Week 14, but it would set up a must-win scenario for the Titans in Week 14 and the Colts in Week 16.
Here’s how the Texans and Jaguars stack up statistically ahead of Sunday’s matchup.
