The New York Jets dismissed Joe Douglas as general manager more than a week ago. However, because the team went into their bye right after, we’ve only now started to gear reactions to the news.
Douglas had a lot of support from Gang Green’s locker room despite being fired.
As is usually the case, quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ response was one that caught the most attention. This time it’s for a legitimate reason.
During his weekly chat with the “Pat McAfee Show,” Rodgers pulled the curtain back more than most did on what went down. According to the QB, a helicopter landed at 1 Jets Drive during a workout the team was having before leaving New York for their bye.
Rodgers knew that was not normal.
“I was like, ‘damn, I hope it’s not Joe,’” Rodgers said.
Words on Douglas came from the likes of interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich, linebacker CJ Mosley and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams.
A roundup of clips of those players reacting to Douglas being fired can be found below:
“There was a helicopter that landed at practice, & I just felt like something crazy was about to go down. When the helicopter landed mid-practice, I was like ‘damn, I hope it’s not Joe’. “- Aaron Rodgers

Joe embraced me from the moment he joined this organization and I have nothing but respect for him. He built an incredible and promising roster, we just haven’t been able to finish games the way we know that we can. I’m thankful for him fighting to keep me a Jet and wish him… https://t.co/lI988gVoXu
