As has been the case for many experiences for him this season, head coach Mike Macdonald will have another “first” when he wears Air Force Ones for the first time vs. the Jets. Now, the kind of shoes he’s wearing isn’t a big deal, but it’s rather what will be on the shoes that is important. The shoes he will be wearing are in support of the RYR-1 Foundation through the NFL’s My Cause My Cleats initiative.
“First of all the My Cause My Cleats initiative I think is just an awesome thing through the league,” Macdonald said. “It gives us an opportunity to support charities and people and loved ones and causes that need attention frankly and need support. And I’m proud to represent the RYR-1 Foundation.”
As is with most players and coaches, they support cause that either affect them or someone they are close to.
“They do a lot of great work with a lot of rare diseases,” Macdonald said on the RYR-1 Foundation. “My nephew, my buddy has one of those, a form of muscular dystrophy. He’s a pretty rad guy.”
