It can’t happen, can it? The Dallas Cowboys have won two games in a row. That isn’t supposed to be a big deal, however in what has been a lost season, it certainly does strike with a bit of abnormality. This isn’t the first time this season it’s happened, it’s just that sandwiched between have been five consecutive losses and a mountain of injuries that have sucked most of the joy out of the experience of following the club.
Make no mistake, two straight wins over teams that have losing streaks of three and six games respectively is not a real achievement. But the victories count just as much as if they had come over back-to-back undefeated teams, at least in the standings and in the push for the playoffs. Somehow, two wins has moved Dallas from a conversation over a potential No. 1 pick to whether they can catch other bad teams and sneak into the seven-team NFC playoff field.
And the answer is, yes. It is possible. And the answer to the obvious follow-up question is no, it’s not going to happen. But it still must be discussed, just in case.
