That’s because on the modernized 2024 recruiting calendar, Wednesday is officially Early Signing Day, although the ESD has unofficially become National Signing Day since it was instituted in 2017. The Gators have 23 recruits committed in the Class of ’25 as of this posting and will add more players in the transfer portal when it opens Dec. 9 through Dec. 28.
The Gators have carried their momentum on the field, where they finished the regular season 7-5 with wins over LSU, Ole Miss and Florida State in the final three games, onto the recruiting trail. Florida has climbed to No. 11 in the On3.com Industry and 247Sports.com Composite rankings.

“We’ve done a good job evaluating players and recruiting players,” Napier said after Saturday’s win over the Seminoles, clinching his first winning season at UF. “That’s not been our issue here. Meanwhile, with true freshman quarterback DJ Lagway as the centerpiece of the roster heading into next season, the Gators are in good position to attract talented players. Lagway is 5-1 as Florida’s starting quarterback and played a key role in the team’s resurgence following a 1-2 start.
He wants to help beyond leading the Gators to the end zone.
“I’m definitely going to be involved in the transfer portal and the recruiting class,” Lagway said. “The biggest thing is keeping the guys that we have here. Making sure everyone’s locked in and we can add and build on this momentum we have.”
