Texas A&M’s 2024 season ended at a disappointing 8-4 and 5-3 in SEC play after losing three out of their last four games, including the season finale 17-7 loss to rival Texas in the revival of the Lone Star Showdown.
On Wednesday, the Aggies signed 24 players in the 2025 recruiting class, including flipping two former Missouri commits, five-star offensive tackle Lamont Rogers, and four-star running back Jamorian Morrow, while five-star wide receiver Jerome Myles surprisingly signed, squashing previous reports.
However, eight players have entered the transfer portal, including three reserve defensive linemen, including junior pass rusher Malick Sylla. After three seasons as a rotation-based player, Sylla will look to play his final collegiate season elsewhere.
Sylla’s 6-6 frame and notable strength and versatility showed up in spurts when he was given the opportunity. Still, after playing under two different regimes, the junior is looking to make a final impact with a different team that will eventually get him noticed by NFL scouts.
While some Aggie fans believe that Sylla was expected to see the field next season, Elko and his staff are expected to add several veteran defensive linemen from the portal, and nothing is guaranteed.
Malick Sylla has one year of eligibility remaining. He finished his Texas A&M career with 26 tackles and four sacks.
