Garrett Wilson needs a big game

New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson is due for a big day if his team is going to pull off an upset over the Miami Dolphins in Week 14.

To salvage some self-respect, the Jets (3-9) may want to use the passing game to attack the Dolphins (5-7) on Sunday:

Wilson leads the team in receptions and receiving yards in what has been a disappointing 2024 season. Wilson has been targeted 118 times by quarterback Aaron Rodgers through 12 games played, yet New York’s pass-heavy offense has been mediocre at best.

The midseason addition of WR Davante Adams has made things easier for Rodgers to go through his progressions, but the Jets QB has not evaded the pass rush, or worse, has missed throws he usually connects on.

Miami head coach Mike McDaniel is going to unleash misdirection to attack the Jets defense, so Rodgers and Jets play caller Todd Downing had better have a game plan that is effective enough to give the team’s defensive unit room for error. Wilson needs badly to have another breakout game and he can only do so if the offense stays on schedule by avoiding long down-and-distance situations.
