Former Nebraska coach Scott Frost is returning to a familiar sideline for the 2025 college football season. Frost has been hired as the head coach of the UCF Knights.
Frost was the head coach at UCF for the 2016 and 2017 seasons. He led the Golden Knights to a 13-0 record in his second season. Following the 2017 season, he left Orlando to return to his alma mater and become the head coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Frost had a tumultuous tenure at Nebraska, coaching the Cornhuskers from 2018 to 2022. He ended his time in Lincoln with a 16-31 record, including a 10-26 record in the Big Ten.
The UCF job opened after head coach Gus Malzahn’s sudden resignation. Malzahn left to become the offensive coordinator of the Florida State Seminoles. The former Husker head coach said he’s excited to return to a school with a special place in his heart.
“The foundation we built here has only grown stronger, and I am thrilled to continue shaping this program’s legacy. As we prepare for year three in the Big 12 Conference, I look forward to working alongside our dedicated student-athletes, talented staff, and passionate fans to reach new heights together.”
He spent this last season as a consultant for the Los Angeles Rams. Scroll down to find reactions from Nebraska fans to recent news.
