Panthers RB Jonathon Brooks carted away after non-contact knee injury

Carolina Panthers running back Jonathon Brooks exited Sunday’s matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles after sustaining a right knee injury in the first quarter.

The rookie, who was unable to walk off the field under his own power, would eventually be carted away to the locker room.

Carolina has ruled Brooks as doubtful to return to the contest.

Brooks missed the first 10 games of the 2024 season while finishing out recovery from the torn ACL in his right knee he sustained in November of 2023. He spoke about the challenges of returning from the injury back in May.

“You gotta be mentally tough more than anything,” Brooks said. “Physically, obviously, it gets better. Mentally, it gets better. But for me, it was more mentally. As far as rehab, it’s just the mental part of it that’s the hardest part to get through.

“But I feel like it’s a blessing in disguise. God tested me. He’s making me a tougher person. But I’m still just blessed to be here, even regarding my situation.”
