Raiders QB Aidan O’Connell first career rush goes for a touchdown

Raiders QB Aidan O’Connell first career rush goes for a touchdown

One of the more shocking stats you’ll see is the fact that Raiders QB Aidan O’Connell came into the game today without a single rushing yard in his career.

O’Connell was in his 17th career game and 14th career start, so, yeah, you’d have expected him to have rushed the ball at least once. But no. The big armed QB is not known for his mobility, to say the least.

Sunday in Tampa, his streak of no rushing yards came to an end. And in the best possible way. Now he has one rush for one TD.

It came in the second quarter. With the Raiders down 14-0 to the Buccaneers, desperate for a score. O’Connell called his own number and took the sneak up the gut for the touchdown from one yard out.

We’ll see if it takes another full season worth of games before O’Connell has another rush.

UPDATE: a few plays into the third quarter O’Connell had his second rush of his career, going for four yards. He banged up his ankle in the play, but stayed in the game.
