Saquon Barkley entered Sunday afternoon about 109 yards shy of breaking LeSean McCoy’s Eagles single-season record of 1,607 yards, set in 2013.
Barkley entered Week 14 against the Panthers with 1,499 rushing yards in 12 games played, and he’s now in second place, passing the great Wilbert Montgomery, who logged 1,512 yards during the 1979 season when he was named a Pro Bowler.
Barkley has seven carries for 45 yards (6.4 avg) and needs 64 more yards to eclipse McCoy’s record in 13 games played and in Week 14 of the 2024 NFL regular season.
To put this accomplishment into perspective, Shady McCoy has four of the top 16 single-season rushing marks in Eagles franchise history.
Barkley has already topped his career-high 1,312 rushing yards earned in 2022 with the Giants. He’s also tied his career mark of 11 touchdowns, which he set during his rookie year in 2018.
To break Dickerson’s record, Barkley entered Sunday needing to average 100.2 rushing yards per game to reach 2,000.
