NFL stats show that Aaron Rodgers is missing throws, Jets fall to 3-10

The New York Jets offense and quarterback Aaron Rodgers are fresh off their best game of the 2024 season.

Despite that, another loss was collected in overtime by the Jets (3-10) in a 32-26 final against the Miami Dolphins (6-7) in Week 14. A defeat which sealed the team’s 14th-straight year missing the postseason.

In a season littered with poor outings, the 41-year-old QB did perform well. He completed nearly 70 percent of his throws (27-for-39), wracked up a season-high 339 passing yards with a touchdown and he did not turn the ball over.

But don’t let that one Sunday afternoon cloud your judgement.

Take a look at the NFL stats for most incompletions per game and you’ll see that the New York Jets rank  the No. 4 highest in that category.

Rodgers has averaged 13.2 incompletions per game this season and he totaled 12 incompletions in Miami.

Sure, Rodgers finished Week 14 with a passer rating of 104.

Still, one passing touchdown in a pivotal NFL game isn’t enough, especially considering Rodgers has the third-most passing attempts in the league.

The excessive pass game approach simply isn’t working to produce wins for the Jets. Rodgers hasn’t been efficient.

While fans might blame the defense for the late-game debacle, Rodgers and the offense produced just two field goals and no touchdowns on the final five possessions of the game. It’s a two-way street.

This has led to a 3-10 record, which includes a franchise-record five times that New York has held a lead in the fourth quarter… but the Jets still managed to find a way to lose.
