Causes for concern as Buffalo Bills take on the Lions in Week 15

The Buffalo Bills travel to Detroit to face the Lions for a heavyweight matchup between two of the NFL’s best in Week 15.

Buffalo (10-3) is in second place in the AFC playoff picture. Meanwhile, the Bills face off against the Lions, who hold the NFL’s best record at 12-1.

The Bills are coming off of a shootout loss to the Los Angeles Rams. The loss snapped a seven-game winning streak for Buffalo.

Detroit has been the best team in the NFL all year long. The Lions are on an 11-game winning streak. They have dominated their opponents, putting up a league-best point differential of plus-183 points.

You’ll hear a lot of “Super Bowl Preview” talk in this game.

With such a fierce opponent, there are several reasons for Bills fans to be apprehensive ahead of this game.

Here are six reasons for Buffalo to be worried about Detroit this week:

Jared Goff

The Bills were torched by Matthew Stafford last week. They now face Jared Goff, a quarterback who has ascended this year and put his name into the MVP discussion.

Goff currently sits third in MVP odds according to BetMGM.

Goff has several attributes similar to Stafford.

Goff has been very efficient this year, completing 72.4 percent of his passes. He has thrown 25 touchdown passes this year, good for fifth in the league. His rating of 109.6 places him second in the NFL.

He has heated up at home as well. Over his last three home games, Goff is sporting a 9-to-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio. He is averaging 305 passing yards per game during this time.

Goff has been great at getting the ball to his playmakers. Speaking of them…

Amon-Ra St. Brown

USAT

Amon-Ra St. Brown has the chance to break out in this game. St. Brown has been a bit quiet over the past three outings, going scoreless in this time. Prior to this spell, St. Brown scored touchdowns in eight consecutive games.

Even so, St. Brown is fourth in the NFL with 81 receptions. He’s 11th in receiving yards with 863.

Buffalo could be down a few players in their secondary. Starting cornerback Rasul Douglas is out and safety Taylor Rapp is questionable. Furthermore, Buffalo’s CB1 had arguably his worst game in a Bills uniform last week.

In his only game against the Bills, St. Brown caught nine passes for 122 yards and a touchdown.

After watching the Rams’ Puka Nacua go off on the Bills last week, it would not be surprising to see St. Brown have a stellar…
