Why Los Angeles will beat Tampa Bay

Tampa Bay is 25th in passing EPA/play allowed this season, and the loss of Winfield and Edwards on Sunday will leave the Buccaneers with third-round rookie Tykee Smith, veteran Tavierre Thomas, and 2023 UDFAs Christian Izien and Kaevon Merriweather as the only healthy options on the active roster. Both Smith and Thomas have primarily been nickel corners this year.

Even with Herbert potentially limited by his injuries, he should be able to take advantage of the Buccaneers’ depleted secondary. With starting linebacker KJ Britt (ankle) also ruled out for Sunday’s game, the Chargers will have even more opportunity to throw the ball over the middle.
